Bounty hunters: it takes Allsorts...

I don’t often buy the local newspaper but I think I’ll buy it more often from now on after reading the following story:

A few days ago, there was an armed robbery in the region. Two men were caught stealing sweets from… Lidl. When confronted by a member of staff, one of them whipped out a huge knife and threatened her before running out of the shop with his accomplice to a waiting getaway car: a Mercedes SUV with a Swiss number plate.

Now, I couldn’t have made that up, could I?

To be fair, it turned out the car was stolen too…

UPDATE: And in a strange parallel-universe incident, a conman robbed an Antwerp bank armed only with chocolates...

aha...that's what you say, Louise...you do know, don't you, that we have ways of tracking you down...? :-)

I know you can track me down - help!!

I went once to a Lidl a few years ago, and swore I would never enter one again - not even to nick sweets!

Been brought up well, my child - at least he had the taste to nick a Merc!

..and I thought that nothing exciting ever happened in the Alps!

The Swiss robbing for sweets. That's like a lactose-intolerant cow.

Mind you - if you are hooked on chocolate, living in Switzerland can cure you! Apart from chocolate in every sort, shape and size (like 4kg bars of Toblerone - yuk), and sweets from Ricola, the choice is not enormous.

I hardly eat any choc now and I hate Toblerone - rips the roof of your mouth off.

You're mostly right, mountain dweller :-)

Buddha - nice image :-)

Louise - I'm hooked on cheese not chocolate - Switzerland is known for that too, isn't it? What do they have besides Gruyère and Emmenthal then?

Love that title too, gigi.
I sort of sympathise; I was so in need of a sugar fix the other evening I had to beg some off my daughter...
Wonder why they chose Lidl...it's not famous for its chocolate, is it?

Perhaps the Mercedes they nicked was parked outside!

'I hate Toblerone' says Louise.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much when cornered.
It's a fair cop, guv'na.

As someone who once lived within a few miles of the Toblerone factory in Bern, I can tell you that no one living in Switzerland except Liqorice Allsorts contrabanders can ever admit to hating Toblerone.

Culpable, and without a doubt, Madame.

I shall protest! I don't like Toblerone! Because it's got nougat in it and honey (yuk...).

I love Fry's Turkish Delight though! But you can't get it here - gggrrrr....

At least they weren't stealing candy from babies...maybe that's next.

Meilleurs voeux!!

Cyber-serndipity -- a Lidl here in Rodez was just robbed a few months back, and the criminals were only 16! I don't know what they stole, though.
