Er...I'm writing a children's book (cringe) and have uploaded the first twelve chapters on Harper and Collins' "electronic slush-pile" site: authonomy.com.
This is the bravest thing I've done since driving over the Monts de L'Ardeche in a windowless car, in a thunderstorm.
So if any of you have a little time to spare, why not take a peek and tell me what you think? Any comments (on the authonomy site please - it will drag me out of total obscurity) would be welcome - even if you think the book's rubbish (but I warn you, I'm sensitive and I may just plunge into deep depression and never speak to you again).
The book's called A Stitch in Time and you can find it here

Trumpet Blow over...
Merci beaucoup

I loved the story and like all good books I didn't want to stop reading it.
Oh thank you Pumpkin! You've made my day...:-)
Quickly read chapter one and felt quite breathless! Well done, lass! I have an eleven-year-old staying this weekend who is not the worlds' best reader (a boy!) so I shall sit him in front of the screen and see what he thinks! Will read the 12 chapters over the weekend and post on the site, and plug it most shamelessly!!
So kind, Louise...but you mustn't plug it as being good if it isn't...an honest opinion from a twelve year old would be perfect!
How wonderful, Gigi, and congratulations. I've just read the first page, and I feel sucked in already. I'll certainly return to read more.
So far, the opening reminds me just a little of The Bears who went to the Seaside, but with a whole lot more attitude.
More seriously, though, fantastically well done on getting your writing out there. I wish you every success with your project. It looks excellent.
As for Felicity ... is there an autobiographical touch of Gigi in the character, perhaps? Or maybe should I be thinking Felicity Kendall?
ha ha roads...Felicity Kendall I wish...
yes, Felicity is probably a lot like me :-) Actually, somebody saidI shouldn't call her by her name as the point of view is Johnny's - I should call her 'mum'. What do you think?
By the way, what has happened to your book? I can't seem to find it any more...
Thanks, Gigi. Since you ask, I think it's good to name your character. Even if it's from Johnny's perspective, he certainly knows that his Mum has a name. Felicity is a good name - it's easy to imagine someone with that name and it has a positive ring.
As for my book, it's still there, trundling through the literary maze, and out there at http://thepriceoflove.net
Just read two chapters and it seems to be great fun.
I'll have to get my eldest to have a read.
He's into the 'Froid dans le dos' series, but as this is on the computer, I might be able to persuade him to have a go.
Yippee! A book!!
I've been over to see if I could find it and did. I'll do my best to bet back to read it. I'm thrilled for you!
Meilleurs voeux!!
When are you going to publish it? I can't wait to read the rest.
Just as I find this blog, it's gone silent..
OK; I'll try again - though this is the address I used last time, straight from your profile page. It was just that when i eventually found your comments on my blog (I hadn't discovered at that point that you can set it up to notify you when a comment's left) I wrote:
Dear Gigi,
Thanks so much for your encouragement which I just found on my blog today. It's a great privilege to discover from time to time that folks in different parts of the world listen to my sermons; an even greater one when they seem to help. As far as I know, you're my only listener in France; I trust they'll continue to be a blessing to you.
Sincerely,
Gary
I'm not confident, so I'll leave this whole thing on the Dr Who entry, and on French Windows, too.
Blessings,
Gary
